Located in Buéa, the former capital of German Cameroon, we'll be discovering the Char of the Gods, exploring the highest mountain in Central and West Africa, with an estimated altitude of 4,040, 4,070 or 4,095 metres. Its unique landscapes will take your breath away, from mangrove forest to sea level, lowland forest, mountain forest to savannah, with the possibility of finding several species of orchid in the rainy season. You'll discover the absolute evidence of a volcano that is still active as you walk on the lava flows from the eruptions of 1959, 1999 and 2000. Mount Cameroon can be climbed via hiking trails. The best time to do it is during the rainy season, particularly in December, January and February.
ITINERARY
Day 1: HOME – DOUALA
Départ de
L'Europe. Accueil à l'aéroport de Douala. Transfert à l'hôtel.
Dîner et nuit à l'hôtel.
Day 2: MOUNT CAMEROON
Réveil matinal,
Petit déjeuner, départ pour Buéa. Arrivée et rassemblement du
matériel et des porteurs. Début de l'ascension, 9km de trek
jusqu'à 1'865m d'altitude au refuge N°1 en zone de forêt
équatoriale. Nuit au refuge. Vous laissez derrière vous une vue
superbe de la ville de Buéa où le Gouverneur Allemand von Putt
Kaber était installé.
Day 3: at the 3rd REFUGE
We have breakfast. The ascent continues to Chalets N°2 and N°3, 19 km from the 1st chalet, at altitudes of 2,852 m and 3,776 m respectively.
After a short break, the walk continues through the lava and then into the forest. Overnight in a suitable place where you can find water. Dinner and overnight in tents. It is also possible to reach Buéa from here, depending on the ability of the walkers.
Then breakfast. Walk to Buéa. Arrival and continuation to Limbé, relaxation at the Seme Beach hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
Relaxation at Seme New Beach. Lunch at the landing stage. Visit to the botanical gardens and zoo. Return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8: LIMBE - DOUALA - at HOME
Breakfast at the beach. Morning at the beach. Lunch in town. Transfer to Douala at the end of the day.
Flight at home. End of services.
